There’s nothing like an imminent visit from the BBC to help put the final touches to a garden. The fantastic team from Green Oaks Services and our finance officer, Denise Thursby, worked late into the night to get ready for the arrival of the Gardener’s World team in Autumn 2019.
We arrived to see beautiful ceramic pots dotted around the pathways, raised container beds on the decking ready to be planted, and beautiful hanging baskets suspended from a wooden stand. Were it not for the towering stacks of coffee cups piled on top of the dishwasher, one might have imagined that the garden fairies had visited overnight.
Moments later, presenter, Arit Anderson, and her trusty team arrived and quietly and calmly set about filming our work. Sometime later, Florence Williams, author of The Nature Fix, joined us. It was a most harmonious occasion, and the film crew were incredibly adept at working around us as we got on with a normal day at Blackthorn.
If you haven’t yet been to visit the garden why not come and see us?
