Blackthorn therapies are for anyone aged 16+ wanting to improve their physical or mental wellbeing.

Our therapies can help people experiencing symptoms associated with a range of conditions including anxiety, chronic pain, low energy, menopause, migraine, sleep disturbance, stress or burnout.

Our holistic approach is complementary to primary healthcare services.

Arts Counselling

Jeanne-Claire Bischoff is an arts counsellor specialising in supporting people with mental health challenges linked to chronic stress, illness, trauma and neurodiversity.

Arts counselling is a somatic and expressive therapy that uses creative processes to help clients explore emotions, bodily experience, and unconscious material in a safe and supportive relational space. This can foster emotional regulation, deeper insight, and greater integration.

Counselling

Rachel Hess has been working as a counselling therapist for over 12 years.

Biographical counselling is a unique, holistic and reflective approach. It takes clients on a transformative inner journey. Clients are invited to explore their biography, finding meaning and inner resources to empower them to move forward.

Blackthorn Charity is subsidising counselling sessions so that we can offer them to the community at the low-cost rate of only £35.

CranioSacral Therapy

Gabor Vajnai has over 25 years of experience in complementary therapies.

Upledger CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a trauma-informed, holistic option. CST offers support for exploring and releasing or integrating some of the restrictive effects of the past. A series of treatments helps to rebuild resources, support the natural restorative forces and facilitate a renewed sense of wellbeing.

Metal Colour Light Therapy (MCL)

MCL therapy sessions (experiencing coloured light through specially designed etched glass) take place in a peaceful, darkened room with natural sunlight illuminating the glass. Some clients experience strong effects on a bodily level, whilst for others the invigoration of vitality or improved sleep are more noticeable.

Nutrition

Amie Butler, a registered nutritional therapist (DipION, mBANT, CNHC) and Metabolic Balance Practitioner who trained at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition in London.

Clients are supported on a personalised journey towards better health using evidence-informed nutrition, diet, and lifestyle advice. By addressing the root causes of imbalance rather than just symptoms, Amie helps the body move towards long-term, sustainable wellness.

Rhythmical Massage Therapy

Gabor Vajnai CST-D, MCSS, RMT joined the Blackthorn Therapy team in 2021 and focussed on supporting clients with long term pain and mental health problems.

Rhythmical Massage Therapy (RMT) involves the use of healing oils to bring a calming and nurturing effect to the nervous system. The light, flowing movements with a gentle rhythmic quality focus on releasing tension, harmonising and balancing polarities in the body and in the soul.
